a collection of reflections by people i have known

In what feels like the blink of an eye, I’m already coming up on midterms in my final semester as an undergraduate. Madness.

Classes are going well. In the interest of having an enjoyable and somewhat less stressful last term, I dropped my fifth class, and it’s been nothing but good times. I’m throwing myself into the four remaining courses, and it’s dreamy. Each of my professors is astoundingly brilliant, fantastically personable, and great at designing courses. And it doesn’t hurt that the workload is a smidge lighter. On the docket this weekend: a couple of papers, some research, and actually having the time to go see a movie. Rad.

I guess there’s not much else to report. This is just an update, the concrete sort, to let you all know that I haven’t fallen off the face of the planet and into a bottomless pit of cryptic posts. So hi, I’m here.

my yesterday:

6 years of laughter and tears with rachael.

a day of work, full of meetings — i believe that from 10.15 until 5pm, i had about 20 minutes of my day not devoted to a meeting.

an uneventful train ride home, only to discover a ticket on my car. upon closer inspection, the ticet was not for the 28th. it was for the 26th. even more odd.
get home and find the receipt proving i had paid for my parking. annoying — now i have to contest the ticket. doubly annoying that there was no mixup on my part.

get a letter from a book agent, requesting to see the first 50 pages of ’stories for boys’. this is, by no means, a measure of anything. but it is a positive and encouraging response, after getting a bunch of rejections right off the bat.

the little things sometimes balance out afterall.

6 years.

ray also pointed out a few hours ago that she is soon to be the oldest girl i have ever dated.

the truth terrifies me.

but miss roxy, i love you and im glad you have put up with me through all the crap. i wouldnt be where i am today without you.

i love you honey.

(everyone else, you can stop gagging on your vomit now.)

6 years.

Ignorance is bliss | FP Passport

perhaps a better way of thinking of it is ‘ignorance is american’? it always shocks me to be reminded how insulated americans are. and want to be. like the martin glaser list from yesterday about the importance of realizing you are not the center of the universe, i believe america as a whole could benefit from the same.

we are not the world.
