coming home today on the G train, the train stopped in the station and the doors didn’t open. this is a pretty common occurence as the G train has a reputation for being one of the worst trains to commute on. i was a bit irritated because i wasnt feeling well and just wanted to get home as quickly as possible. it turned out that a girl had fallen on the tracks right before the train came into the station. she did not get hit by the train. she had been helped up off the tracks before the train came into the station and was clutching her leg on the platform.

the other night one of my moroccan friends who now lives in california sent me some youtube links of moroccan hip hop clips(here and here). He also posted a hilarious Moroccan voiceover to a scene of Lord of the Rings, here.
I followed the next few links and found a video of a Moroccan tv commercial for ‘popular’ music(ie country music), here. That video is so hilarious and representative of Moroccan tv(all two channels that there are!).

for the longest time i felt like i was living life with my eyes on the future. there was a sense of….not the present being ephemeral, but the status-quo being impermanent. it caused me discontent. post mountain view move at some point i began to feel settled- both content and living in the moment. now i’m looking ahead, trying to figure out whats next and feel like i’m torn between the two- i’m fighting to stay in the here and now, but its very difficult to do when i’m trying to figure out where i want to be next.

I know exactly what you mean. I struggle with that daily. Speaking of which, Matt and I are thinking of moving to San Jose this fall (or at least by the following fall). We’d love to come up and visit you guys in June. I looked at a map and it looks like you guys are super close to San Jose. True?

you’re lucky. well, she’s lucky too.
but here in the south bay, it seems someone jumps (on purpose) in front of the trains once every couple of months. then all the service gets screwed up, everyone is late to work and no one wins.
i find it doubly odd since the golden gate is such a popular point and so close — why not take the train there? is that too morbid to consider?
