welcome.
i'm tripp millican. this is my website. actually, it's mine in that i pay the bills, but it actually belongs to a bunch of great people — all listed there on the bottom of the page for you to see.
the me
i am an engineer living in the bay area. wow, that sounds amazing! tell me more!
ok.
i work for cisco right now. i collect pieces of paper from schools that say i've taken some classes there. i've been coding on the web since 1996; i've been writing and drawing even longer. i'm from virginia originally. i don't read as much as i would like these days; my favorite book is 'alice in wonderland' but the best book ive read in the last few years is 'the mind's eye.' i love living in mountain view.
the site
this site came into being shortly after i graduated from college — this was back in the dark ages of the internet — in 1998. i had pages up through my school and landed a position doing front-end web development out of college. after a few months, i had hacked together a new set of pages on my local machine at work. after a few more months, i decided i needed a domain of my own. thus, madeofglass.com.
shortly thereafter, i enlisted mike to start writing with me. others followed, all close friends of mine, desiring to build up a community of friends online, encouraging everyone with an outlet that, at the time, was new.
the current design is the 8th version of the site. some have stuck around longer than others. in 2006, i switched the site from a custom-built asp backend to wordpress. we also began offering comments then, something we had resisted for a long time.
we are spread out all over the country (and, in one case, the world). the ages range over a ten year span. the political and religious spreads are also significant. the only common factors here are that: 1. everyone knows me somehow and 2. ive got mad respect for every one of these people. a smarter bunch you couldn't ask for.
so poke around, there is years and years of content to find on here. i'm always touching things up — feel free to let me know if something doesn't work as it should (or as you wish). ill make it happen, just for you.
oh and if you need or want to get me personally, try me at tripp at madeofglass. or just drop us a comment or 6.
enjoy.
