dinner in the make

fall is here. my friend christine arrived at my door yesterday with a beautiful red oak leaf. a simple and beautiful gift. (it is said you should always come to someone's home bearing a gift, be it a single flower or a silent blessing. i like this idea) it is now dried and curled. the color hasn't faded in the least. the colors are sparse here in the city. or maybe i just don't notice them as much…walking as i often do with my head down. i love the fall. the leaves blowing off the trees and rustling at your feet. the coolness of the air, just a whisper of the winter to come and the summer past.

my morning reading lead me to explore destiny and karma. it was insightful and opening. the laws of karma are complex and deep. far beyond what i could take in at one sitting. yet they changed my perception today. i wandered about chicago…pondering the subtle ways i create karmic debt (good and bad) in my day. the ways are too many to count. maybe too much to really ever grasp…but interesting still. to see the circle of life in this way…to realize the power of each action.

dinner preparation calls. we are having a guest and i am making roasted veggies and polenta. it is a good fall meal…hearty and warming. cooking fills me up…long before i even take the first bite. i love it. i hope all are well out there in "tripp land".
