one more week of teaching stuff, a week of review, and then a week of exams. then i have three two-week intensive sessions which will leave a lot of the day free. the time running out speed, and by speed i mean thing, is great. although rabat feels so much like home at this point its hard to make myself realize i'm actually leaving soon(in order to appreciate the place itself and not just the excitement of knowing i'm going home soon).
i went by the gym on my new block today to ask about the monthly fees. now that i'm waking up at 8am most weekdays now, just for the hell of it, i'm looking for filler. and since my work schedule killed off basketball last fall, i figure some real physical activity is back on the lineup. turns out they wouldn't let me just use the weight room. if i wanted that, i'd have to pay 30 bucks a month for a trainer. i told the guy i'd heard it was 10 bucks. he said the only thing they have for 10 bucks a month is boxing.
i was shocked. i had spent two months last spring looking for a gym that had boxing, and went to at least twenty different locations, asking all around. why is everything so awesome now that i'm about to leave?!
so for ten bucks as opposed to thirty, i'm gonna have a trainer who's not only gonna have me punchin a bag and all, but who is gonna put me to work in the weight room as well. the fools, don't they see?!! the funny thing was later, at the new cafe across the corner from my place. my friend, upon hearing the news, said 'aren't you worried about doods breaking your face??'. he looked so concerned i tried not to laugh. i told him i doubt there would be much fighting, if any; the gym didn't have an actual ring. i believe i slipped in another little ego-booster about doing it just for the workout — i already knew i could beat some a** no problem. i think i got hit for the smarmy comment.
peace
