i have been using one of my coworker's accounts on rhapsody during the morning/early afternoon hours at work before he comes in. it's amazing. so good that i ponder paying the ten clams a month to participate myself. anyhow, this past monday i broke down and gave And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead's 'Worlds Apart' album a chance. maybe i can say, wow?
the first half of the album blew my mind. i think the biggest reason why i'm not primarily rock-oriented is the fact that it doesn't much provide anything beyond the listening, head-nodding experience. if dance music is mediocre, i can still dance to it. i can't nod my head to bad rock. but this band has me crankin this stuff up in the middle of dominican harlem, prolly annoying the shit out of my neighbors who all listen to reggaeton. i don't care, one because i love these tracks, two because i'm listening to them while soundforge is helpin me out in the background, if ya know what i mean. thank you rhapsody. i don't know if sucker even applies to what you're doing, but i love ya anyway.
the last 'new' rockish band that i liked, to my recollection, was postal service. and they were alright. i would play them while cooking dinner. this band is almost gonna make me go to irving plaza to see them play — i say almost because i have the feeling they're gonna be a mid-week show. i'll look into it. regardless, i felt i should note how much i love this band, since my wholehearted endorsements of rock happen once in a blue moon. rest in peace rage; i love you even though you've changed, asian dub foundation.
peace
