i love what the internet is doing for people like me. as i've continued to get older, somehow?!? i've realized more and more how the people you know affect everything about your life. on a theoretical level yet even on the most mundane factors. the people i know, just for a quick obvious example, now have me living in downtown brooklyn.

when i started saying i love what the internet is doing for people like me, the key phrase was people like me. that is, people who think of something, want to know more about it, and want to get involved in it; impulsively, dogmatically, lethargically, whatever. the internet is the curious person's philosopher's stone. well not quite, but it's an almanac to everything. and when, even in nyc, i ask people if they know where i can do or find x and they can't answer me, a few minutes of clicky on the internet and i can find an answer. generally it's not handed on a platter to me, but the true test of whether one cares or not is if the one phone number or message box leads to one's branching out in a new direction.

so today, internet, i salute you. living in a big city makes each person in it more available to new and interesting things; throw in the internet as a means of connecting an already massive group of people and you can understand some of the weird things you find on craigslist et al. and you wouldn't be seeing half the stuff if it wasn't actually serving a purpose for someone.

the only thing is i hate the internet at the same time. it's like when you have ten books you want to read sitting in your room; imagining reading them all and being done with them almost guarantees one won't get started on the reading without a kick in the pants.
