Walking into the dining hall today, I heard two people in line having an animated, emphatic conversation.

“Seriously, it was in bio. White people are genetically stronger than black people.”

I find it remarkable that the dominant discourse is so willing to historicize diagnoses and sciences like phrenology and drapetomania while maintaining the legitimacy of science that claims to prove the “genetic superiority” of one race over another. Does the phrase “race is a social construction” ring a bell for anyone else? Intro to sociology? Come on!*
