It struck me today, as it often does on the eve of Halloween, that my birthday is a scant ten days away. So I thought I’d look up the birthday, November 9, to see who was born on that day, what historic events occurred on it, and with which holidays I share it. So here we go.
Famous birthdays: Anne Sexton, Carl Sagan, Dorothy Dandridge, Spiro Agnew, Nick Lachey, Lou Ferrigno, Elijah Lovejoy, Hedy Lamarr, Allison Wolfe (from Bratmobile), Corin Tucker (from Sleater-Kinney), Sisqo, Vannessa Minnillo.
Famous historical events: Brian Epstein first saw the Beatles perform, Berlin Wall came down (1989) Vietnam Memorial unveiled (1984), Napoleon Bonaparte overthrew the French government (1799), German SS formed (1922), John Lennon met Yoko Ono, Jack the Ripper killed his final victim (1888), “Miami Vice Theme” reached number one (1985).
Holidays: National Notary Public Week, National Osteopathic Medicine Week, National Split Pea Soup Week, Slaughter Month, Peanut Butter Lover’s Month, One Nation Under God Month, National Pepper Month, Child and Adult Month, International Drum Month, Kristallnacht, National Scrabble Day, Sadie Hawkins Day, Chaos Never Died Day.
Yes, that’s right, I was born on the anniversary of Kristallnacht, which also occurs during National Split Pea Soup Week. And I share a birthday with Spiro Agnew and the guy who took “The Thong Song” to the top of the charts. Good times. Good, horrifying, genocidal and historically abominable times.

Okay, but most importantly, you share a birthday with Nick Lachey. Seriously. While I would be willing to marry you in the event that the crazies got too much control and actually came after us in force, it is now like I’d be marrying a little part of Nick and that makes the gay part of me (read: all of me) very happy. ;)
