already a week into school, and i feel very much behind. because i wasn't around for half of last week, the first week of classes seems null and void. i also did nothing this weekiend. plus i don't have a schedule or routine yet, which is making it difficult to get going. plus i have done nothing except run errands to make sure everything is in order for this semester. this semester is going to get off to a very rocky start.

i gave my lecture at michigan state thursday evening. it went well. no one asked any questions though. which was surprising. there are enough ambiguities and inconsistencies in my work to provoke something. but i talked a lot. a lot more than i should or ever thought i would. i lectured for over an hour. i impresseed myself by being able to do that. i thought for sure that my lecture was only going to be about 15 minutes. obviously i was way off. that was about the only thing that really went well in michigan. jason and i were very tired, and ready to go to work and take down the shows, etc. pat is not a good organizer and didn't seem to understand or notice how jason and i had time constarints. everything took much longer than it should have, i got so little sleep that it was a miracle i didn't pass out and wreck on the drive back, and overall jason and i were bitter and frustrated. but our lectures went well, and we gave a some critiques to three undergrad painters. that was enjoyable. the whole three days was just stressful. a lot of waiting around, when we could have been doing things.

my loan checks have arrived. however, i cannot get a refund for about five to seven business days. this sucks, because my housing needs to be paid friday. i have e-mailed the housing guy i am working with informing him of the situation. hopefully everything will be okay, since the university has the money in hand, just not in the right offices. you would think there would be communication between the offices, but that would make too much sense.
