for those about to rock…

suggested track: "bellbottoms" by jon spencer blues explosion

last night was so good. jason, erik, troy, and i went to milwaukee to see jon spencer blues explosion. they were great. they rocked. they were so fucking tight. one song just bled into another. no breaks. the one lull was when someone threw a bottle of water onstage and hit russel simmins, the drummer. now, if i were going to throw something at the band i liked, i would probably go for the most docile, smallest member of the band. if you happen to be familiar with the blues explosion, then you know that russel simmins is large. and has a little temper it would seem. after being hit with the water bottle he threw his drumsticks into the crowd, pushed over part of his kit, swore and flipped off the crowd, and stormed off. but luckily, he was coaxed back out , and they continued to rock the place.

the next bad thing was the opening act finally arrived, and segued into whatever they do from the blues explosion's set. it was really dumb and bad and not worth going into. the band dub narcotic or dub narcotic sound system or whatever the fuck they are, suck. we pretty much stuck around to see if the blues explosion was going to come back out. they didn't, so we left.

also i got back the essays i wrote for jack as part of my MA exam. nothing but high praise. i nearly shit myself. jack made amanda write hers over last year. he actually wrote that my points were clear, it was well organized, and that he couldn't fault it. jack faults everything. needless to say, i'm feeling pretty good. i just hope that i did half as well for fran and derrick as i did for jack.
