yesterday i went to a book reading by mike hepner and chuck palahniuk. it was good. mike hepner was funny, and his book the egg code sounded very interesting. chuck (or chas as i call him), was very funny. he had a couple of good stories, and wasn't obnoxious or anything during the q&a. however, the excerpt he read from his new book didn't sound so good. a little pompous and with a reeking of what i can only describe as "machismo". jason and erik waited in line like an hour and a half for his autograph and to pose with him for some polaroids. chas seems very gracious. he is going to send jason photocopies of these pixie dolls from his childhood, and jason surprised me by getting me his autograph. jason, erik, rachel and i were supposed to watch royal tennenbaums afterwards, so i kept calling jason on his cell and leaving messages. i kept telling jason that he should ask chuck if he could call him chas, because that's a cool name. so jason got me his autograph on this bizarre piece of scrap paper for moving kegs. and he signed it chas. i'll post a pic of the autograph soon. also, the best thing chas said was that fight club was a romance, and more specifically a rewrite of the great gatsby. also, he mentioned that he was going to write horror novels from now on. or possible fantasy/science fiction.
