it's been awhile. i am busy beyond busy. i'm in my final push finishing my work for my mfa show in april. february sucks, because it is short, and filled with commitments preventing me from doing any real work. two weekends ago i was in makato, minnesota installing the most recent no fun show at minnesota state university, and gave two lectures while i was there. they went pretty well. much smoother than last year when i gave like an eighty minute lecture at michigan state. three weekends ago i went to la crosse, wisconsin for a tattoo convention on sunday with martin. we both agreed that all in all it was pretty lame. it was too small to kind of hide in the crowd, so you felt like everyone was sizing you up and glaring at you if stopped at their booth. pretty much most people knew one another and had been hanging all weekend, and we were standing out. at least we felt like we were. but it was nice to spend the weekend with martin and to see him. this week i have been teaching a handful of drawing classes, because several people are out of town at the caa conference. i like teaching drawing, but i amkind of wiped out. classes are back to back, so for a six hour or so i'm talking, standing, looking at work. my eyes hurt, and it has taken me a a little while to adjust. i'll finish my dinner, have some beers, try and get a little studio work done, and maybe get home earlier than usual, and read some comic books. i'm even behind in my comic book reading. speaking of which i saw daredevil this weekend, and i really liked it. but that is primarily because i really like daredevil, and i liked all of the inside jokes. ben affleck was utterly terrible in this movie. the script wasn't bad, and all of the supporting characters were really good. colin ferrel was perfect as bullseye. absurd and crazy, but not too over the top. i also saw chicago. awful. absolutely awful. with two exceptions: 1) john c. reilly was very good. primarily because he was the only actor that actually had lines and had to act. but he did it very well. 2) richard gere, believe it or not, was pretty good. only because the movie was so cheesey and campy, that richard gere's own cheesy-ness fit right in the part. i hated it, rachel loved it. that's all for now.
