okay, so they've been broadcasting some basketball. although there are interruptions, but it's still much better coming home early and being able to watch basketball instead of dan rather. unfortunately, i don't have cable, so i can't switch to espn or nickelodeon (is that right?) for basketball. which is probably good, because i need to get work done. less than a month to finish up grad school. yikes.

i saw the brazilian movie city of god last night. absolutely amazing. i need to see it again, but easily one the greatest movies i have ever seen. flawless. story, dialogue, editing, cinematography, narrative structure. all perfect. it's the movie quentin tarrantino wishes he was good enough to make. it's the movie boyz n' the hood, and menace II society want to be. i can't stop thinking about it, and i highly recommend to anyone if they get a chance to see it to go. i thought ebert and roper were over hyping it a little by saying it is one the best movies you'll ever see. but it's abosolutely true. okay, now i may over hyping. and anyone that is upset over what i said about quentin. good. he is a hack. the only thing he ever did that was any good was reservoir dogs.
