suggested track: "mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" by willie nelson

i saw willie nelson the other night. the ticket was free, so that made it double good. it was in eau claire, which is three hours away. so travis picked me up when he got off work and we drove to the iga country jam in eau claire. i felt bad for travis, because his car is a stick, and i can't drive a stick, so he had to do all of the driving. willie was so fucking good. he's a goddamn machine. he's not like most musicians where he strums cords all night and the band plays all the actual music. he totally rocks out on the guitar. he's really good. the show was super bluesy. he was throwing blues riffs and solos around all over the place. he played for over an hour and half straight. no breaks. he would say thank you after every song, and start right up. he was still playing when we left. we saw about an hour and forty minutes, and willie's all "you guys wanna hear a couple more?" for about the third time, and keeps on going. he was a lot better than i ever thought he would be. plus the people watching was pretty good at the country jam as you could imagine.

some people almost got loud drunken phone calls last night when i was on the terrace, simply because the band we were watching could not be believed. the band was called all the pretty horses, and there music wasn't great, it was pretty predictable heavy rock stuff. not bad, not good. oh, but the band itself… TRANNIES. that's right. the drummer and the vocalist/guitarist were clearly men taking hormones. the bassist was a girl, there was another girl who was a back up singer and another very punk looking girl who was the dancer. the vocalist had these gross little boobs, again on this obviously male physique. so he/she was topless, and covered head to toe in blue body paint, and orange hair/wig. plus other sparkles and make up and what not. and he/she had all these large feathers/wings. it was a sight. no, more of a spectacle. i wanted everybody i have ever known there to see that. did i mention it was on the terrace? which is part of the university. that's right, this happened on campus. a free university event. god bless america.
