there is a lot i could post about right now. and i will post about some of it later, i hope. but i want to tell this quick tidbit about new york:

while in new york, we walked our parents through times square. i passed a guy on the sidewalk who said 'excuse me, miss, can i talk to you about jesus?' and i, per usual, said no. then, he said 'well how about a comedy show?' … which really made me laugh. and kind of made my day. i love that the genre of people approaching you on the street is so dictated by cultural norms that we can generally guess what people will tell us before they open their mouths… panhandling, people handing out flyers, people asking for petition signatures. i just loved that this guy made me laugh. it actually made me think his comedy show might be funny.
