File under gluttony:
If you're in New York and looking for a good steak dinner for $200, I can think of no reason not reccomend a stop at Del Frisco's on Sixth avenue and 49th Street.
Granted, I was there for my future brother-in-law's bachelor party and the $200 covered my own meal, a share of the groom's meal, I think part of the older generation present as well, but even taking all that aside the meal was worth every penny.
I ordered the Ribeye rare and the waitress asked me if I wanted the center warm or cold. If that's not the sign of a great steakhouse than I don't know what is. Ever since reading Kitchen Confidential I've been militant about ordering food rare at restaurants and I just knew that a place that was prepared to serve their steak with a cold center had some serious confidence. Even so, I wimped out and said warm center.
No regrets. It came out bloody and gorgeous, perfectly seasoned and slid down easily with Bass Ale. My father was there as well and he swears that Peter Luger's is actually better, but I'll have to taste it to believe it.
