Stealing money

I had my evaluation at work today. For anyone who hasn't read earlier posts, I'm a restaurant manager and I hate my job. Obviously, in the position I'm in, expecting a baby in five months, I can't just go in there and say that the only goal I have is to have another job in six months, so it's kind of a weird process.

It just feels a little dishonest to be there planning the next year for the restaurant when I don't even want be there another year. Plus, I got a nice little raise, so in a way, it feels almost like stealing.

The one part of the whole process that did strengthen my resolve however, was that I was actually complimented for being the only manager who didn't bad-mouth other managers behind their backs to our boss. What the hell does that say about where I work?

One of the main reasons I want to leave (besides terrible hours, no weekends, 60 hour weeks, and not much money) is that for some reason, every manager I have ever worked with, with the exception of gm's, seem to think that the best way to look good is to make the other managers look bad. This is one of the most idiotic approaches that I've ever seen, but it seems to be standard operating procedure for some reason.

It seems to me that the best approach would be to get everyone working together, always be positive to corporate, and share the success. They aren't looking for someone who can bitch about everyone, they want managers who can bring people together. I guess human nature just seems to overcome common sense most of the time around here.
