Back me up

I just wanted to put up part of an e-mail from someone who works with me at Applesbee's. He is a server there so he knows first hand about what I put into my last work related post. Due to the fact that I don't like my job, and the fact that more than likely every work-related post will show this, he is the only Applebee's employee that I have entrusted with knowledge of this site. And probably, for the forseeable future, the only one I will. So here it is, the relavent parts of Derek Meyer's e-mail to me. (The rest was mostly about my cd's getting stolen, but I'll get to those responses in a later post.)

You're right, Dave, very cool website.

(I skip a little here, nothing relavent)

To comment on your thoughts about the management (not that you need MY comments as I may be crossing some sort of server-manager line here), you are very right about managers badmouthing other managers. And to add to that, not only does it hinder the management's productivity, but it affects us as well. To be blunt, bitching about managers is our job…fuck that…our PRIVILEGE. However, when we hear Bill or Tony badmouth each other or you or even Joe, then it brings them down to our level. I don't know about everyone else, but it causes me to question their authority over me when I, time and again, see them coming down to the same level as all of the other employees. Not only that, but I happen to like each manager for different reasons. Granted, I am human, and I like some more than others, but I like them ALL. And when one badmouths another (and it is not in jest) then it irritates me the same way it would if they badmouthed John or Kip. I don't only speak for myself when I say that this behind the back talk amongst at least half of the management does NOT go unnoticed. And whether the individual server realizes it or not, I think it probably affects each and every one to some degree.

(Skipping the cd stuff…)

Derek

P.S. About that Applebee's stuff…should it come up…I absolutely positively wish to remain NOT anonymous. In fact I so want to be known for saying that, that you can hack into the Applebee's website and paste my face on it right next to what I typed and anything else that I may have said about the damn restaurant over the past year and a half. Play it out over that stupid satellite radio network we always play.

It's just nice to know someone else feels roughly the same way as I do.

Thanks Derek.
