Changes

Well, theres been a few changes up in piece of late. I left the one dance company, after a short stint as their stage manager to become the lighting director at another one. The new job is going to be semi-full-time, and wonder of wonders has health care benifits. Which is so sweet i often forget that I will not have to pay that out of pocket anymore to the extortionists who currently call them selves my health insurance provider, but whom i like to think of more as masked bandits who raid my small isolated homestead monthly. Aside from that I am going to be hitting the road with increasing frequency over the summer, which will be fun, and I also hope this brings me to more places where i might run into old friends.

Another thing i have to do is buckle down and attempt to find that most elusive of critters the livable/affordable new york apartment. lastly I got back from an Italian tour a month ago, and i must highly recommend that everyone visit Italy, the food is excellent. The Italians like to say that they invented the theatre, my only wish is that they had continued to progress beyond the techniques they really nailed down in the renaissance. Tying together thin pieces of wood to create battens and then hanging several hundred pounds of lighting equipment from it, having it muscled out to a twenty foot trim by eight guys and then tying it off with a large knot is impressive, but we have come rather a long way and use things like steel pipe, counter weight fly systems, chain hoists, and even sandbags to make it safer and give us a mechanical advantage. Crazy.
