Someone choose who's left and who's leaving

About five minutes ago I emailed my boss my letter of resignation. It won't be a shock to him. I told him yesterday that I was offered another job and I had to take it. He understood and was happy for me.

For the last two years I was a labor relations consultant. In short, I helped companies remain union-free. It was a good job and I liked it. I got to travel a lot, meet tons of interesting people, and built some strong bonds with my co-workers, many of whom I consider friends and will likely stay in contact with. But now that chapter of my life is over.

I was asked to be an assistant to a pretty powerful guy who is starting a new bank. I'm basically going to be working hand and hand with him through the whole process. It is a very big deal to me. I studied entrepreneurship at USC, and now I get to use those skills in the real world (but without the personal responsibility of it being with my money [yet].) It should be a difficult yet gratifying job.

So Friday is going to be last day of work at my old job. My new one won't start until the middle of August, which gives me time to visit my nephews for the first time in Seattle, to relax, to catch up with friends….etc.

As for right now, I'm just waiting for Friday, trying to find something to do.
