i learned this morning that the father of the professor i felt was my mentor at USC has passed away. i never got to meet him formally though i saw him for the first and only time at a bbq at his son's house last sunday. the sadness i feel right now is mostly just sympathy for the loss that the family has suffered. despite not knowing him personally i must say that his family has always impressed me and i'm sure that their character is partly a reflection of his nature. my condolences are all i have to offer.
