so good that i didn't post about any of it.

i spent the last weekend in portland for a wedding. (you can view the flickr set here.) the best part of the trip was that i got to hang out with a few friends that i don't see very often anymore:

we all went to high school and college together, but now we are spread apart. sometimes i wonder if the distance from the ones you love is really necessary…

the wedding was nice. the setting was a chinese garden in portland:

having the reception at a brewpub was pretty genius however. oh i had a token glass of red wine and the obligatory champagne for the toast, but i personally enjoyed the IPA the most. there was dancing of course, both the formal kind:

and the informal kind:

you can hear my friend sandy laugh and say "that's so hilarious". she's was actually quite impressed with greg's carefree style…

greg and i go way way way back. 3rd grade. we went to elementary, middle, high, and college school together. then he moved to austin to start his phd. i never really get to see him more than a couple of times a year now, so i'm surprised at how close we still are. luckily the girls, his wife negin and sandy, had to spend a lot of time doing wedding stuff as bridesmaids, leaving greg and i plenty of time to cruise around the city. we walked across the river to SE portland and visited OMSI (oregon museum of science and industry) where we took a tour of cold war era diesel-electric submarine. a great deal for $5.50:

the other cool thing i saw there was an omnimax projector. omnimax is the version of imax that is projected on a curved screen. we didn't go see any of the screenings, but the running projector was visible through the glass:

film still fascinates me, both mechanically and magically.
