have you ever wondered what the rapture will look like?

my mom shot those on Sunday at about 2:30 in the afternoon from the family home in Ventura, CA. the dryness in Southern California right now leads inevitably to fires. the overall photographic effect was caused by the particles in the air that are reflecting the light from the flash back at the lens and the sky looks much too orange because of the color temp set for daylight.

so i made sure to sit on the left side of the plane when i flew from Burbank to San Jose, just in case i could catch a glimpse of the fires. and about 5 minutes after takeoff, i could see a jagged glowing line in the distance, a light that looked too organic to be manmade. this is what i saw:

it didn't look too bad from the air, but from the ground it was worse: homes were lost.
