12/9/04…excerpts from a letter to Kady:
Here come a few lights. It's been pitch dark since I woke up about an hour ago. I forgot about the time change and woke up extra early. There must be a few more people moving around now. It's so depressing to be in the dark all the time. By the time I get to work the sun will be down and I probably won't go outside anyway. All our work is sitting in a hundred pieces in the hangar bay right now. I just had a wonderful nutritious breakfast of one Snickers with almonds and one Lipton Brisk raspberry ice tea. Mmmm…vending machine meal. No wonder I'm getting cavities.
I have to go get in line for dinner now, even though I don't have to be at work for more than an hour and it only takes me fifteen minutes to eat, I'll be in line forever. There's lines for everything here…is that a useful life skill? Waiting in lines? I'm getting good at it. Trust me, there is no civilian line that equals a military line.
