"Sweet Zombie Jesus"*

Linda's post reminded me of this brief article about Andy Rooney's record mail response to his comment that Mel Gibson was a "wacko." I was hoping the article would print more of them but most probably went like this one: "asinine, bottom-dwelling, numb-skulled, low-life, slimy, sickening, gutless, spineless, ignorant, pot-licking, cowardly pathetic little weasel."

It makes me think that maybe the people who make the loudest noise have the least to say, that maybe by sreaming insults, they can cover up the fact they don't know anything. For example, Fox News recently caught up with a hillbilly who was making crank calls to officials who'd ok'ed gay marriage. The usual stuff, "I hope you get AIDS from your faggot brother," etc. When asked why, he said, "Well, I got to protect my little institution I got going here." What would Marriage do without him?

Speaking of obnoxious noise, the lead in to a story on the news tonight said, "Bobby Brown is coming to Virginia, but not for a concert, he's going to court." The announcer actually sounded disappointed but I guarantee more people would rather see him in court.

I just found (such an exhaustive search, on the 60 Minutes site and all) text on Rooney's comments. It gives people yet another reason to fire Bush in November: to make Pat Robertson look like slightly more of an ass.
