Here's a funny AP story about California's State Education Secretary Richard Riordan who made a moronic comment about a small child's name (Isis D'Luciano) meaning "stupid dirty girl."
Democratic state Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally originally scheduled protests over this gaffe calling Riordin's comments "outrageous and irresponsible," and saying the girl was "a little African-American girl. Would he have done that to a white girl?"
Then he found out the girl in question was white and cancelled the protest issuing the statements, "To err is human, to forgive is divine" and "Race is not a factor in this issue. It is time for us to move on." If race isn't a factor, why cancel the protests?
Moral: It's okay to be an asshole. It's not okay to be a racist asshole.
