Drunk and Stupid, the Vice-Presidential Remix

I still haven't watched all of the video tape of the first presidential debate, but I did watch most of the VP debate, which I also taped for later use. Perhaps as a coaster, or a prop for the short leg on the kitchen table. Though there is still some chance that I will watch both debates in full and return with a much more in-depth critique. Which is great news for the severals, even dozens, of people who I imagine turn to me for political analysis.
Overall, I thought Edwards did a better job, but that could just be the full head of hair. I thought Cheney was more vigorously trying to be "on message," rather than answer questions, though you could see Edwards' handler waving from the wings for him to say again how well Kerry did in his debate.
It's a shame neither man had a podium.
The presidential candidates had podiums.
It was odd for Cheney to refer to FactCheck.org about Edwards' Halliburton comments, since FactCheck has also checked a few "facts" of Cheney's, particularly on Kerry's military record. But we don't watch debates for facts, really.
I got really sick of hearing both candidates repeat the same spin they've been spewing for months, and I'm sure you have, too. Which is why I'm announcing an alternative. I am officially throwing my hat into the ring in this election season. You won't see me following this doctrine of "If I just repeat it enough, people will think it's true" that you see with the other candidates. Once proven wrong, I will never talk about the issue again. Ever. And while I lack the political experience of Dick Cheney, John Kerry, George W. Bush, or John Edwards, I have a proven track record of making political-style comments right here on madeofglass. I also love pizza. And, if you act now, a portion of all votes for me will be donated to helping orphans get elected to city council. As my running mate, tripp himself loves orphans - a claim neither vice presidential candidate has made.
Mike. Tripp. Orphans.
The choice is yours.
