Earlier today, vice presidential candidate Mr. Socko was shot and killed by Mike's security detail during an apparent attempt on Mike's life. Emboldened by an outpouring of goodwill at his nomination as vice president, Mr. Socko apparently tried to assassinate Mike in order to be president, even though Mike has not been elected. Yet.

Mike's campaign has received emails such as the following, encouraging Mr. Socko:

From: JVP

I'd say: "MR. SOCKO FOR PRESIDENT!"

Officials are not willing to say whether "JVP" is a part of the plot on Mike's life at this time. However, sources indicate that "JVP" is not even registered to vote in the United States.

Mike is expected to make a full recovery (from an unrelated illness).
