hopstop is the best website ever for people like me. ie, often clueless.

did anyone watch the end of the kentucky/michigan state game last night? so freakin' sweet. i have inherited my father's michigan loyalties - at least for this season. even though he went to U of M and not state. everybody likes rooting for somebody, i guess.

at B&N today i bought a big ass rand mcnally foldout map. i am practically an un-fan of big ass foldout maps, but was frustrated with the fact that every map claiming to be a map of new york city is actually just a map of manhattan, which appears to me to be false advertising. i know for people who live in manhattan, manhattan is new york, but a) that's not technically true and b) people need to know how to find places in queens and brooklyn, too.

i also bought dear zoe, which i hope will help me get through my busride tomorrow without obsessing over the many people i don't know who i am sharing the trip with. i also have an nyc going out guide, which in its volume alone already pleases me("1450 hot spots"!)

speaking, of, jules and i checked out richmond's newest, er, hotspot (it's so lame to actually use that word) saturday and my verdict is 1 1/2 thumbs up for lucky lounge (which is apparently too hip for a website). it's a breath of fresh air when TbC is grows stale, but it's still in the super-new, ultra-crowded stage where you have to elbow to the bar (for an admittedly overpriced drink). decor alone is worth a visit, though, (think retro gambling motif), and checking out the "dj" was worth a giggle. (he has a turntable_. that's singular, kids.)
