the first phase of my oral surgery extravaganza is over. i am infinitely pleased that i feel as though i took control of my highly irrational fear with the help of only half a xanax and my iPod. i was so happy when i walked out emotionally unscarred that i yearned for one of the ribbons my students get to wear when they do something exciting like lose a tooth at school. hopefully i will be singing the same happy tune tomorrow after phase II.
i am going to document my happy little herb garden-to-be because i am so dippliy content with the notion of becoming an herb-growing dork. i have planted tomatoes, chives, green onion, mint, cilantro, and tomatoes. oh, and black-eyed susans for some color. here is day #1 - not much to see yet.

because this is not an entirely exciting picture, i will supplement my submission with this far more rocking one of quinn and wendy's son, noah:

the force is strong with this one.
Hey there. Just a suggestion, but you may want to plant your mint in a pot in the ground. Weird, I know, but it keeps the mint from going crazy and taking over. If you don't, you'll have runaway mint plants you may be tracking down for years. I speak from experience.
Oh, and the odd marigold here or there is good in the garden to keep the critters away.
I second the mint vote. It completely took over our herb garden, choking out the other stuff. Watch out!
oh, our herb garden……
right now it is a pot of dirt. not having sunlight is somewhat limiting. i will excitedly and jealously enjoy your documentation instead.
I will send you mint, if you so desire. I, um, seem to have plenty…
i never thought my garden would spark so many comments, particularly in comparison to the picture of noah skywalker. thanks, guys. i am considering digging up all my mint seedlings and quarantining them to their own pots lest they take occupation of my whole flowerbed.
thanks esp for the marigold tip, ray. i didn't know!
Rachael, No sunlight? Try lamium (aka Dead Nettle), hostas, impatiens or in the fall buy some cheap bulbs and put them in. Yes, they'll only make it the one Spring, but it'll still be a nice show.
