Politic/Life: Rock the Boat!

So, Reed, Rebekah and I trundled into the local middle school here to vote. The overall mood seemed pretty upbeat, a marked change over two years ago when  it seemed tense and mean. I'm also glad to say that though there was one computerized voting station, there were ten little boths for filling out optical scan ballots. All the booths were full and I saw no one using the computer. I know I shouldn't be a luddite, but I really don't like Diebold; computer voting machines with no paper record and apparently easily compromised… that just doesn't sit well with me, particularly when the head of your company is actively political and pledged  to return W. to power.

Anyway, Reed wanted Rebekah to vote. I told him she couldn't do that for a few more years. Since he had my "I voted" sticker, he was covered. As we were leaving, I said "And that's how you vote!" At which point he started crying and saying "No! That's not it!"

After a bit of interpretation and discussion, I realized he thought we were going to "boat," not "vote."

I suppose sometimes it just sucks being a kid.
