My youngest sister, Kim, is visiting us. While out and about today, I stopped at the grocers to quickly grab some carrots while she stayed in the car with the kids.
“Back in three shakes!” I say as I hop out of the car. I grab the carrots, check out, hop back in the car and we head out to track down the last of the school supplies Reed will need for kindergarten (!).
A minute or two later, as we’re driving along, he asks, “Did you get them?”
“Get what?”
“The three shakes.”
Kim and I laugh and I explain how it’s just a saying, that the full saying is “Back in three shakes of a lamb’s tale” which is really fast.
“So, do you understand now?”
“Uh huh… but did you get the three shakes?”
