its been too long since i posted. let's see…
on saturday tripp wanted to go see djs because bassbin twins were to be playing. he came over for dinner and an evening swim (very nice) and then we went out. we'd never been the the club before. on the way, waiting for the cars to move so we could get to parking, i remarked on how many guys there were. almost all of the people walking by our car were men, and there was a long line to pass through security (metal detectors) that were all men. we cleverly figured out that that was the wrong club before trying to enter. ours was across a parking lot and around a corner. tripp thought it was the coolest club he'd been to in L.A. but i will leave description to him, as well a music description. suffice it to say we had a good time and didn't leave until 4 in the morning which meant not really calling it bedtime until 5. i wasn't tired and had trouble falling asleep, and then more trouble getting up in the morning.
we met my grandparents for march of the penguins. i enjoyed it thoroughly. i want a penguin baby. so humorous and fuzzy. and fat!
after the movie we went out to dinner and i discovered that tripp likes to try all sorts of food, so long as he isn't allergic to it. this pleases me. i'm also entertained by the fact that i can still learn things about him after all this time.
i finished reading a good book this weekend. tripp's! i took my time with it because i wanted to catch typos etc., and enjoyed it even though it isn't my genre of choice. i also recently have read the vision of emma blau by ursula hegi, naked pictures of famous people by jon stewart, which was not as funny as i had hoped, finished the new york trilogy which i had been plugging away at while at tripp's, and am about to finish a question of choice by sarah weddington. she gave the speech at my graduation and the book is her story of fighting roe v wade and the aftermath. its a very accessible book and it is making me all the more frightened about the future of the supreme court and the decisions that might be made. its horrifying, the possibilities.
