brand new craze

the day before thanksgiving i made stuffing for dinner– a partial thanksgiving meal for a family celebration. it was delicious– wheatberry bread, toasted, wild rice, mushrooms, currants, celery, sauteed cippolini, shallots, and yellow onion. all baked together with some salt, lemon juice, fresh tarragon and fresh sage. yum.

we went to a friend's house for thanksgiving dinner. it was very nice, although i was sad that my gram didn't join us. she's been feeling under the weather because of some medication she's reacting to.

its my parents' anniversary today. its nice that its always around (sometimes on) thanksgiving because there's always a festive mood for it.

on wednesday evening i went with my mom to a lecture by doris kearns goodwin. it was fabulous. what an intelligent, articulate woman. i'm looking forward to reading her new book, on lincoln.

i'm finally recovering from the back-from-japan jet lag. i got up at 10 today instead of noon! i'm really glad that i have nothing forcing me to recover more quickly. i don't remember it being this rough coming back from australia.

japan was wonderful. i've found myself recounting story after story to my parents and to their friends. i meant to keep a journal while i was away, and to hopefully transfer some of that into posts, but it didn't happen. there was so much walking around and doing of things that i didn't even make it through writing about my first full day. i'm looking forward to seeing tripp's pictures and getting my own developed.
