The newly leaked song from the Lonely Island album*: “I’m on a Boat”
The mp3 is over here.
* It really is going to be a 28 minute album, isn’t it? No song so far has been over 3 minutes. And with 14 tracks…sigh.

1. Planet Money podcast from NPR which follows the current state of the economy, attempting to explain the issues in clear terms.
2. Countdown with Olberman. Left-leaning politics from MSNBC.
3. Rachel Maddow. You can grab her Air America podcast, but I’m sticking with the MSNBC podcast of her show, which they have now updated to be the entire episode.
Note: all links are through iTunes, because, yes, I’m like that. I also am digging Real Time with Bill Mahr, but HBO isn’t streaming it yet. And Frontline costs money through iTunes, so I haven’t subbed to it either.
What news items are you watching online?

I’m surprised it has taken you so long to watch Countdown and Rachel Maddow regularly! Great stuff. Also, you can watch entire Frontline episodes on their website on PBS. Enjoy!
Oh and Obama will be on The Daily Show tomorrow night via satellite from Florida. You can watch all episodes of The Daily Show and Colbert Report online now. Please watch often (I’m not just saying that because I work for the network – they have been really, really good lately.)
Not that it’s taken so long but MSNBC has only added the shows as podcasts in the last month or so. I’ve gotten really into watching video on my iPod now, which is the weird thing.
I’ve watched 0 Colbert in months and only a handful of Daily Shows. When I do watch, I end up only watching the first half of the show; the news/entertainment ratio is too low for me right now. Mainly because I have been mainlining on politics and economy news.

I foresee a huge media/political hangover for you on November 5th.

The day of the album is gone unless the musician provides enough value for the fan so that they are willing to pay for an album format. If not the single track is what we will be buying for a very long time to come. It’s up to the musician.
This is from Mashable this evening. And f-you.
Sorry, it’s harsh, but you wrote like 1000 words that I skimmed (admittedly) that mean nothing. I’m tired of people saying that albums are shite, that they don’t matter.
The truth? I want to queue up albums in my iPod; I’m sick of albums being shat on. I like my albums; I want to use that metadata. I can’t rate my albums as a group, nor can I browse them easily like that.
It’s frustrating — I have a zillion songs, but only a handful of albums I truly love. But I can’t work that to my advantage. And you know what? Those albums are great. There is a very real reason I’ve been listening to some of them for decades (“Appetite…”), some for a year at best (“Untrue”). I’m tired of people ragging on albums. At this point, 10 years into mp3s, you’re an idiot enough to buy an album for a single and 10 songs you’ve never heard, you’re getting exactly what you’re paying for. You deserve that.
Use hypemachine, use piratebay, use 100 of the resource out there to hear the song you like.
But don’t rag on albums. Just like anything else, there are sucky ones. But there are also amazing ones.
Hell, what’s your favorite album?

I have 100 millions posts, thoughts, trappings.
The short reminder for the moment:
Sometimes I forget how much I love a certain album or band.
Today it is Kruder and Dorfmeister.

How about an mp3 of 2 Linkin Park songs, one in each ear, pitch shifted — and they line up perfectly. Awesome. It’s one thing for Ray Parker Jr. to rip of Huey Lewis. But to just make the same song over and over?

In going through stuff a few weeks (months) ago, I came across a mixtape I was putting together probably in probably 2000. I digitized it and am throwing it up for your enjoyment. It’s from the era of DJ Tripp(p). This one was made when I was living with Goose on Franklin. I never finished it — I think Chrispy got a copy at some point, but it never got finished, just forgotten.
It’s rough and dated, but somehow a little pleasing still. It never got a real name, so I’m calling it “Rau,” which is a terrible mis-spelling of raw. I’m too lazy to think harder right now.
Jurassic 5 – Concrete Schoolyard
A Tribe Called Quest – Motivators (Wiseguys Remix)
Runaways UK – Leviatation (Remix Instrumental)
Eminem – The Real Slim Shady
Rasmus – Mass Hysteria
Resident Filters – Big Train
Ballistic Brothers – Peckings
Nu Generation – In Yours Arms (Rescue Me)
Supercollider – Darn (Cold Way O’ Lovin)
Freq Nasty – Move Back
Sex Pistols – Anarchy In The UK (The Dave Goodman Sessions)
Utah Saints – Funky Music (Krafty Kuts Funked Up Mix)
Scanty Sandwich – Because Of You
Sasha – Expander
Moloko – Sing It Back (Can 9 Supermarket Mix)
Black Legend – You See The Trouble

So back in what seems like another life, I was living in LA, living with Kurt and we were dreaming up a TV show. Then we disagreed over the general tone and lost interest. But I made a mix of the flavor I wanted the show to have. So I’m sharing it.
Now, keep in mind, this little mix CD is several years old now. And it isn’t DJ mixed, it’s just a bunch of tracks.
And what’s on it, you ask? How about this:
1. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club / Love Burns
2. Danger Mouse / Encore
3. The Streets / All Got Our Runnins
4. Franz Ferdinand / Take Me Out
5. LCD Soundsystem / Losing My Edge
6. Oasis / Cigarettes & Alcohol
7. Evil Nine / Crooked (feat Aesop Rock)
8. Adam Freeland / We Want Your Soul
9. Utah Saints / Punk Club
10. The Chemical Brothers / Out Of Control
11. Beck / GHETTOCHIP MALFUNCTION (Hell Yes)
12. Bran Van 3000 / Drinking In L.A.
13. Unrest / West Coast Love Affair
And where is it, you ask? Here. Grab it now, cause I’m probably removing the link soon.

Good mix! I didn’t have any tunes on my work computer here in Toronto and I’ve pretty much exhausted last.fm so these mp3s have helped restore my sanity.
Thanx man…
Awesome send up.
I’m assuming that was somebody making fun of t-p, right?
ray :: feb 05 2009 :: 7:36 pm
No, it is T-Pain.
Which makes it even better.
tripp :: feb 05 2009 :: 7:45 pm
why do you keep mentioning the 28 minute thing? is that good or bad? i don’t understand either way. also i throughly enjoy the lonely island website, and all of the episodes of the ‘bu.
ben :: feb 05 2009 :: 11:48 pm
ok, i just listened to the song and it is mildly amusing. i also have no idea who t-pain is. would that somehow make it funnier?
ben :: feb 05 2009 :: 11:54 pm
1. The 28 minute thing cracks me up — I keep waiting for a song that actually goes on longer and none seem to exist. I’m amazed that even with the consistent quality of the songs that this album will be incredibly short and they will still sell a zillion copies. It’s neither good nor bad, just weird to me. I’m sure I’m over-reacting but it amuses me.
2. No, prob no funnier if you knew who he was.
tripp :: feb 05 2009 :: 11:58 pm
You’re SURE this isn’t somebody just mocking his easily mockable style? Really? Because that song is just too stupid to not be a joke. Awesomely stupid or stupidly awesome. I’m not sure which.
“You can’t stop me, muthafucka, ‘cuz I’m on a boat.”
“I’m riding on a dolphin doing flips and shit.”
No. I’m sorry. This has to be an awesomely done mock of him and his one trick vocorder pony.
ray :: feb 06 2009 :: 12:58 am
Okay. After reading the link I see he’s in on the joke.
ray :: feb 06 2009 :: 1:01 am
Don’t be sorry. But it is him and yes, it is a joke.
Here is an Amazon link. Very real.
Oh and I stand corrected: Amazon lists the full album as 19 tracks. Way better then.
