SF Underground Music Examiner
Busy week
Busy week, have another show or two to write up after tomorrow. Going to see about adding another topic to examine, something with a little broader interest. Do appreciate your pennies though.
Definitely check out We Be the Echo though.
Unrelated news, a bum asked me for change while I was waiting to get into the Shellac show on Wed. I said, “Sorry.” He said, “Come on, man. It’s Obama-time.” Same night, there’s this kid there asking people in line “what’s going on tonight?” They tell him about the Shellac show and the kid’s like “Yeah, but are there any other clubs around here?”

Upcoming
Just a list of shows in the SF/SJC area. If you live around here, you might (but probably don’t) want to check them out. Also, I just got my Examiner.com business cards, so I finally have something to put in the fishbowls near the register at restaurants

Going down the tubes
The intertubes that is. I got a mention from Low Red Land for the review I wrote about thier recent Elbo Room show, plus a link up on Pins of Light‘s myspace about a different show, and a lovely thank you email from Big Blue Whale. Which is great, and it’s good knowing that people are reading my little bits outside of the handful of people I’m directing there, but it does worry me because my best stuff is the stuff that’s fueled by hate. I don’t know why, but generally speaking, he more something sucks, the better my writing about it is. I don’t want to write my best review ever then have the band come find me. Except for Woven. They can read it and stick it. See how I don’t even link to their site? “Pedal Jedi”…ugh. They’re like the kind of guys that swear their biggest influence is Radiohead, but the only song they really like is “Creep.” Did I mention I also have to have my photo up next to my articles?

Two more sips
I have two more examiner articles up. My hits are through the roof. Almost made a whole dollar in one day.
One‘s about the upcoming Shellac shows at the Great American Music Hall, the other‘s about the Hurry Up Shotgun, Sister Grizzly, and Big Blue Whale show at the Hemlock last Saturday. I can honestly recommend all these bands (except to Ben or Tripp or Rach or probably most people on or reading this site. But hey, they don’t need your permission to rock)

Continuing the streak
Welcome back to the Mike show on MoG, where it’s all Mike, all the time, apparently. And I’m not even writing for this site, I’m just advertising my articles at examiner.com. This one‘s another concert review, from a city where most of you don’t live. Cheers.
