so a new person started today at work.

i fear a tussle of some sort — she is planning on bringing in her dog to work tomorrow. all well and good, i dont mind a dog running around.

what i do mind is the fact that she wants to put her dog outside in the atrium, where the birds have been building their nest the past few weeks. on the ground.

she says the dog is small. i dont see how that really matters. no dog of any size is going to ignore a birds nest.

it is under the building somewhat, so it might be protected. but im still pretty annoyed.

if the dog drives the birds away or hurts them, im going to be furious.

the saddest part is that i can feel my stress and blood pressure going through the roof and nothing has even happened yet.

i did speak to her and she said she didnt want to drive the birds away. i dont completely believe her, esp after i overheard her and coworkers talking about me, the dog and the birds in the kitchen a bit ago. sigh.

an evening update:

1. it turns out that the nest at the office is actually full of already hatched birds. i also made a lot of noise about it today, so i dont think the new girl can put her dog out there without looking very heartless. so, baby birds saved.

2. internet is working at the apt. it seems that the combo of yahoo/sbc dsl and my linksys router (wrt54g) did not need the mac address cloned. i know this is nerd speak to some of you but bear with me for 2 sentences while i try to share what i have learned thus far. wired, roxy's computer was fine. but when i connected with my mac, it would drop connection in less than 5 minutes. and i would need to reboot the router to get any connection back to either computer. this is annoying to say the least. i tried a bunch of things, but the last one was to turn off the mac cloning. and it seems to be working now. yay!

3. sigh. there was a three when i started typing. now, of course, ive forgotten it. im going to go have a drink.
