the third thing i remembered as i got into bed last night. it was congratulating eric on his post 'beautiful babies and giant ass-pains', which, since i set up the tracking on the site in sept of last year, has, as of last night, become the #1 post on mog. well done, eric.

in other news, i slept like crap last night. why?

well, i woke up at 4am. to some noise. and it took me about 10 minutes to register i was awake and another 10 to realize what the noise was. i thought 'why does it sound like a vaccuum? and a generator?'

and then i realized that i live next door to a gas station now. and that someone (some jerkface) was vaccuuming his car at 4am. and continued to do so for about 45 minutes, at which point i finally tuned it out and feel back asleep. ass.

finally: dc has started releasing what they are calling 'showcase presents' books. these are essentially the same as marvel 'essentials' — 16 bucks, 500 pages, old comics reprinted in b&w on newsprint. a cheap way to pick up runs of old, expensive comics. and it you get them on amazon, they are about 11 bucks, which is super duper cheap.

so ive finally gotten addicted to them slightly. i bought the superman one, mainly because it reprints the start of silver age superman and the stories are just awesome. if you enjoy superdickery or just insane stories, pick it up.

and last month, vol 1 of 'superman family' came out. its actually just the first 22 issues of 'jimmy olsen', but it too is enjoyable. not as cosmic, as the stories are generally more tame, but just as fun. (the average plot is: jimmy wants to capture a criminal, dresses up in a costume to capture said criminal, almost does it and has to have superman come save him at the last minute.)

ill post a cover later today to explain why i [heart] these things.

(and i was wrong, the wireless router is still dropping me on reconnect. jerkwads.)

and this is why i love the silver age of comics.

how david copperfield 'flies'
very nice. its interesting to realize that with tivo and digital recording, magic tricks have become that much harder to broadcast. i suppose the shift moves from slight of hand to 'tricks' like david blaine — where it is the spectacle event as opposed

mark millar battles crohn's disease
love him or not, he's a comic writer that announced being sick a few months ago. the rumor (and my feeling from the stories) was that it was crohns. sucks that i can almost relate. i wish you all the best, mr millar.

five suggested flickr tags
i will not note how many of these appear in my (or my contacts) pictures.

april fools psa's
ok, ok. the office is getting funnier. these prove it. to me. and after having watching every single one of these — this is comedy gold. i cant tell you to watch these enough. very very kickass.
