so my lease on my jetta is almost up — i have to turn it in on the 28th. it's been great to me and i love it. the new 06s are not as nice (in my mind) and i'm at a loss for what to do.
do i buy my jetta that ive been driving the last 3.5 years? do i lease another? do i lease something else entirely? anyone have any thoughts?

Honda Civic Hybrid, 2006. I've had one since Feb and love every single minute in it.
i should add that i rarely drive now — maybe 50 miles in a week. i'm afraid cheap trumps fuel efficient for me right now.
Toyota Prius. If you can afford it, get it. (I know that everyone up there has one now, but it's a fabulous car, just ask Wen.) I also agree on the Civic Hybrid - my friend has one as well and it's awesome. I do have an affinity towards Japanese cars though (and yes, it's because I'm Asian).
I'm not a big fan of the new Jettas either.
the problems with the prius:
1. the waiting time.
2. the lease amount.
i looked into them when i got my jetta — i paid 200 a month for the jetta. the prius was 400 a month. the demand is so high for them, they can charge far too much.
since im not driving much, id rather find something with a low monthly rate — sub-200ish.
Leasing only makes sense if your company is picking up the tab. If you can't afford to buy the car it means you can't afford it at all. Buy something sensible used - no sense driving a car through it's highest depreciation period.
