meg digs my reviews, so here is a laundry list…

for your consideration, b-, not nearly as bad as people had told me it was. not terribly strong, but worth the price of admission for the couple of internet jokes.

the departed, a-, good but typical — once you finish watching it.

it happened one night, a, a wonderful movie from 1935 that tooks the country by storm. shot in a month, if everyone turned out 12 of these a year, the world would be a truly wonderful place. if you can handle black & white movies, i recken you'll dig this one.

pan's labyrinth, a, very highly recommended. when my biggest complaint is that there wasn't enough screentime for the monsters…we are in good shape.

smokin' aces, d, avoid at all costs.

inland empire, c+, david lynch does a 3 hour art film with dv. avoid if you hate: art films, repetition, a lack of distinct narrative, long movies, david lynch. if you read all of that and thought it still sounded interesting, you might enjoy it.

caddyshack, d, overrated.

this film is not yet rated, b-, a nice cheap documentary that made my head want to explode.

fistful of dollars, b-, a solid clint eastwood spaghetti western.

for a few dollars more, b, an even more solid clint eastwood spaghetti western.

a scanner darkly, c+, not quite all it could have been. and i like 'waking life' a lot.

an inconvenient truth, a-, a nice expensive little documentary that made my head want to explode. and then made me lose my appetite. see it for the content. stat.

lady in the water, b-, i like shyamalan. not his strongest effort, but interesting as it mostly lacks a twist. very clearly mismarketed — this is a simple modern day fairy tale.

the shawshank redemption, b-, a solid drama. very engaging.

the descent, c-. a bunch of women get lost in a cave and get hunted by a pack of creatures that look like golem from lord of the rings. the blacks are too black on the transfer and, thus, you can't see anything in the movie. not that you would want to.

little miss sunshine, c+, for all the acclaim, i found this to be a national lampoon's vacation for the new millennium.

cold creek manor, c-, a very bad 'thriller'. skip it.

the matador, a-, surprisingly enjoyable. rent it — a great movie to sit back and enjoy for nothing more than what it is.
