April just wrote about her new haircut. And I mentioned mine previously. But in reading about April’s experience, where she was organized to take in a photo of herself, I realized I needed to share this haircut with all of you who haven’t seen me in the last 2.5 weeks.
People have commented on this haircut like no other. Generally by saying, “Nice haircut.” To which I scoff — I can’t tell if they are sincere or not. And it doesn’t matter, as I dont find it to be a nice haircut. Because I’m still annoyed over its length. When I explain this, people say it is still nice. I still don’t believe them. Someone did suggest taking in a photo of myself. The thing is, the difference between a good haircut and a bad one, on me, is subtle. A picture won’t help at all — especially when notions like ‘eyebrows’ are too subtle for the hairdresser to grasp.
So here it is, keeping in mind it has had 2.5 weeks to grow out. And keeping in mind that I asked for it “just above the eyebrows.”

hahaha!
Next time tell her just below your chin and you should get what you want.

Dang! After she cut it, did she yell, “you just got punk’d”?
I really am sorry, though. Unsatisfying haircuts can be so distracting and uncomfortable. Ugh.

Does this mean I’m no longer responsible for giving you the worst haircut you’ve ever had?

Though, if I recall correctly, you did get a hundred bucks for that monstrosity.

i am making no comment on how much i made on that haircut. though i will say it was a lot more the 100 bucks. didn’t i buy you dinner or something for it? and weren’t we listening to election results from the 2000 election then, working in the downstairs bathroom of the old captech office?
i should find the original of that image, just to show how bad it truly was. (not the haircut, but the idea of shaving a logo into the back of my head.)
even then though, it wasn’t the worst haircut ever. surprisingly.

Nevermind taking a flat, 2-d logo and trying to wrap it around your dome as a guide. That might have been the beginning of the end for me right there…
And, fyi, cutting that ‘e’ was a total bitch. But then, you were there; you know. You had to sit still for, what?, an hour?
Y’know, in hindsight, I’m pretty frickin’ awesome. Just sayin’.

man, i thought the worst haircut you ever had was the one you tried to get me and jen strohkorb to do in ye olden days of spring ‘96. i wisely backed out of assisting and i seem to remember discussion afterward theorizing that a flowbee cut would have turned out better.
also, i think the bleach-with-clorox adventures during this time period should qualify in the running for ‘worst’, though i suppose that was less cut, more, uh, “style.” open sore bleach burns are hot!
this coming, yes, from the black-to-blonde mess of ‘96-’98.
i hate to say it, but your new ‘do looks kind of, um, ‘dumb and dumber’ inspired.

Well, this whole topic is going to force me to put together a haircut post, outlining some of the…better…haircuts i have had over the years.
In regards to this current one: it was done in Mechanicsville. Also, I went in about 15 minutes before they closed for the day. Maybe the woman just didn’t care. Or, more possibly, she was a lousy haircutter. Or doesn’t know anything about eyebrows.
